Since moving to London from South Africa in 2007, husband and wife duo Sahin Meyer (aka Linda and Shy Jacobs) have steadily set about making waves in the thriving European deep house scene.

Their debut World Cup South Africa 2010 EP was a heartfelt exploration
of the deeper end of house and techno, and the uniquely South African flavour of the title track, as well as a chance Myspace encounter led to its release on Andre Lodemann’s revered Best Works imprint. Everyone from Brendon Moeller, Osunlade and Lakuti to Laurent Garnier, Atjazz and Till Von Sien showed their support and the doors were well and truly opened for the duo. Subsequent releases on Sccucci Manucci, Dubs & Moments as well as a forthcoming collaboration with German songstress Nathalie Claude see them continue to hone their interpretation of deep.

The couple have also explored other creative avenues and outlets that include the Deep Absurdum blog ( & Basic TV podcast series, both of which gained traction worldwide amongst lovers of the deeper side of house and techno. Basic TV is a live audio and video webcast that has already played host to Jozif, Red Rack ‘Em, Till von Sein, Darko Esser, Andre Lodemann, OOFT, Craig Torrance & Sasse, all playing live in clubs around London and the rest of Europe. The blog features special-interest articles, music reviews, podcasts and interviews with some of the movers and shakers of the current electronic music landscape. A further extension of this is the newly formed Deep Absurdum SA initiative, which the couple hopes will elevate the local music scene and showcase the singular beauty and appeal of their birthplace by inviting the finest artists from around the world to tour and perform in South Africa.
